An Ode to Plasma Spam, 1750 Chaos Marines
So last night, I was prepared to play against my friend's disgusting Tyranid monster mash army, with lots of deep striking threats that hit turn 2, and kill you turn 3. Constantly getting wrecked by this army has made me more twitchy than Moscow in 1962, and also sent me into an appropriate arms race. Unfortunately, instead of facing down a massive Tyranid threat, I instead went up against a Blood Angels player. This being my first game against him, I didn't know what to expect, but typically I don't like making the first impression that I make jerk lists... Oh well, too late for that! Here's the list I used:
Chaos Lord: Power sword, gift of mutation
5 Chaos Terminators: 5x Combi-plasma, 1x chainfist, 3x power axe, 1x power sword
5 Plague Marines: 2 Plasma guns, aspiring champion with melta bombs 5 Plague Marines: 2 Plasma guns, aspiring champion with melta bombs 5 Plague Marines: 2 Plasma guns, aspiring champion with melta bombs 5 Plague Marines: 2 Plasma guns, aspiring champion with melta bombs
Heldrake: Baleflamer Heldrake: Baleflamer
2 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, veterans of the long war 2 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, veterans of the long war 2 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, veterans of the long war
Total: 1750
So yeah, do the math, 5 combi-plasmas, 8 plasma guns, then 6 obliterators which can be plasma cannons, twin-linked plasma guns, or a plethora of other awesome weapons. I'll save you the details, but by the end of turn 5, I had tabled my opponent, and only lost 9 of my own models. I think the list did admirably, the Heldrakes annihilating anything within 12" and the Obliterators being a constant pain in my opponents neck, but all said, I'm not sure if this will be my final list... Though I still might give it another whirl against Bugsculptor and his Tyranids.
Sorry Michael!
