The Host of Change: Warriors of Chaos 2500
So the book is out, and you can expect to see an article of my first impressions soon, but right now I wanted to share with you a fun little list that I threw together this morning! The new chaos book has lots of units which actually directly mutate and change units on the board! The Mutalith Vortex beast will both improve and hinder your enemy units (while turning some of them into puddles of goo), the Lore of Tzeentch can give units regeneration as a result of the mutating powers of Chaos, and the lovely War Shrine will boost your nearby heroes! All that sounds like a recipe of crazy to me!
Sorcerer Lord: Level 4, Mark of Tzeentch, Talisman of Preservation, Dispel Scroll, Third Eye of Tzeentch, Scaled Skin: 385 on Warshrine: Mark of Tzeentch: 135
Exalted Hero: BSB, Mark of Tzeentch, Crown of Command, Enchanted Shield: 185
17 Chaos Warriors: Shields, Mark of Tzeentch, Full Command, Standard of Discipline: 334 18 Chaos Warriors: Shields, Mark of Tzeentch, Full Command, Banner of Eternal Flame: 346 Chaos Chariot: 110 Chaos Chariot: 110 5 Chaos Hounds: 30 5 Chaos Hounds: 30
3 Dragon Ogres: Halberds, Shartak: 214
Mutalith Vortex Beast: 240 Mutalith Vortex Beast: 240 Spawn of Tzeentch: 70 Spawn of Tzeentch: 70
There we have it! The lord is a pretty pain to kill sporting a 1+ armor save and 3+ ward (which re-rolls 1's). Your typical hard to kill Chaos Warrior blocks are present, as long as some extra killing power from the Chaos Chariots and Dragon Ogres. Lastly, the Spawn of Tzeentch is there to give the enemy a surprise when it gets in combat, spurting it's lovely breath weapon all over. I certainly don't expect this to be a highly competitive list, but think of how fun it would be on the field!
Lastly, if you're feeling extra-spendy, the Dark Eldar Khymerae would make appropriate and awesome looking chaos hounds for this army!
