Using the New Bugs: 1850 Tyranids
So to say that I'm excited about the new Tyranid models would be an understatement. I've converted a Tyrannofex in the past, but gave it to a friend because I wasn't entirely satisfied, but now they're coming out with a new spectacular model. Similarly, I've always wanted a Swarmlord, but never got around to converting one, so this weekend will be joyous for my Tyranid swarm. Trying to make the most out of the new models, I've drawn up a new Tyranid list that I'll be using next week, and I'll let you know the results: Swarmlord: 3 Tyrant Guard with Lash Whips Tyranid Prime: Lash Whip, Bonesword, Devourer, Regeneration
2 Hive Guard 2 Hive Guard
10 Termagants Tervigon: Cluster Spines, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Dominion, Catalyst 19 Genestealers: Broodlord with Scything Talons
Tyrannofex: Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines, Dessicator Larvae Tyrannofex: Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines, Dessicator Larvae
The general idea is that I've got the Swarmlord deathstar unit advancing up the field, then BAM Genestealers in the flank. The Termagants and Tervigon get the objectives covered, while granting cover and FNP to the Swarmlord's unit. All the while, the Tyrannofexen are pounding apart vehicles so that my combat units can get to the squishy insides. It feels a little light on troops to me, but I think that the Genestealers should get the job done just fine.
