Introduction
Hello and welcome to The Dice Abide! The Dice Abide was formed by a group of gaming buddies as a means to share our experiences and challenge ourselves to develop content others might find useful or entertaining. We are a casual, yet competitive group and strongly feel that the two terms are not mutually exclusive. We're not hobby snobs, nor are we win-at-all-costs gamers, but have found that happy medium in between the two. Sometimes its all about bringing out your toughest list, having a fun, hard fought game, and seeing who comes out victorious. Other times it's bringing out a fluffy army and seeing what you can do with it. There's no right or wrong way to play as long as you and your opponent have fun!
The Dice Abide Contributors:
Adam B Started Playing: 1996 Favorite 40k Army: Tyranids, utterly uncompromising and alien, a perfect antagonist. Favorite Fantasy Army: Ogres, because they are big, loud, smelly, and will smash you if you say otherwise. Current Armies: Tyranids (7500), Imperial Guard (4500), Dark Angels (2500), Tau (1000 and growing), 40k Daemons (1000 and growing); Ogre Kingdoms (6000), Beastmen (3000), Lizardmen (3000), Skaven (2000), Tomb Kings (3000) Favorite Aspect of Hobby: painting and modeling
Adam G Started Playing: 1999 Favorite 40k Army: Eldar - I always loved the Iyanden wraithguard style army and next to a jetbike army it is my favorite one to play. I also love how tactical the army can be, none of that "just spam x y and z to win" like certain other armies *cough* IG! Favorite Fantasy Army: Tomb Kings - the fluff and theme of the army brought me into Fantasy when the armybook came out in 2003 and I came to really enjoy the tactical challenges and effectiveness of the army on the tabletop. Current Armies: Eldar (7,000), Tyranids (10,000) , Thousand Sons (CSM) (3,500), Tomb Kings (4,000 points). Favorite Aspect of Hobby: Winning. Seriously though, I love it when a plan comes together so I would have to say the tactical aspect of the game really suits my fancy.
Brian Started Playing: 1996 Favorite 40K Army: Tough call, but if desperation ever necessitated parting with armies, I'm pretty sure the Orks would be the last thing to go. So. Them. Favorite Fantasy Army: Skaven, Skaven, Skaven! Current Armies: Orks, Word Bearers and Aurora Chapter Space Marines are my current line-up, with the latter of them bringing along a few stragglers from other armies for Apocalypse fun. Skaven are my trusty Fantasy side-arm, and I aim to keep them there for some time. Favorite Aspect of the Hobby: Modelling. Painting. Writing. Developing and playing narrative scenarios, campaigns and Apocalypse events. 40K comic strips. Pretty much anything but putting an army on the table and playing the game as provided.
Chris Started Playing: 1996 Favorite 40k Army: Bad Moon Orks. Favorite Fantasy Army: It's a tie between Orks and Goblins and Dwarfs. Current Armies: Chaos Space Marines, Tyranids, Orks, Grot Rebels (IG), Grey Knights, Skaven, Dwarfs, Chaos, Orks and Goblins. Favorite Aspect of Hobby: I love it all. Modeling, painting, playing, hanging out with other gamers, and collecting.
Nick Started Playing: 1996 Favorite 40k Army: Tactically I'm really drawn to the new Dark Eldar and the versatility the new Codex offers. Fluff wise Eldar has always been my favorite. Favorite Fantasy Army: Bretonnians - I'm just getting in to Fantasy, but am excited to start a Bretonnian army. Current Armies: Eldar (8,000), Dark Eldar (8,500), Space Wolves (1,500), Bretonnians (WiP). Favorite Aspect of Hobby: I really enjoy going to tournaments and challenging my skills against a diverse crowd. It's also fun just to talk tactics and scheme with friends and fellow gamers.
